I took ART206: Graphic Design Methods and Processes in the Spring of 2008. We did several different projects in class doing calendar spreads, posters, and special invitations. Highlights from each project are shown to the right. To view full sizes, click on the image.

For my final project in ART206 Graphic Design, we had to make posters and a special invitation package for a fake movie festival with a theme of numbers in movies. Below is the poster I used for it as well as the front and back of one of the information cards that went with the special invitation. Following that are two other poster designs that I had in the beginning but which were not used for the final project.
In my ART206 Graphic Design class one of our assignments was to make several months of a calendar for a local company. I was assigned to the Peoria Chiefs Baseball team and had to emulate the style of British artist David Hockney. Hockney does both photographic collages as well as paintings. I decided to use his collage style for the project and obtained several photos of the Chiefs which I cut up and collaged together to get the distorted effect achieved in Hockney's works.
For this class we had an ongoing assignment of sketching conceptual designs. We were given 30 different topics and had to make designs for 15 of them. Here are some of the highlights.
This drawing is set of promotional postcards for One World cafe next to Bradley University.
For this portion of the assignment, I made storyboards for a commercial about flights to outerspace.
Close to BU's campus there used to be a coffee shop called Jesters. For this assignment, we had to make a new logo for Jesters becoming a cyber cafe.
This was another storyboarding assignment where we had to conceptualize and draw out a plan for a commercial advertising the Monopoly Championships coming to Peoria's Civic Center.
For this assignment, we had to draw several magazine covers in the Bauhaus style, which is full of geometric shapes.
This part of the project was another storyboard assignment where we had to draw a short about the life of a bowl of fruit. I didn't show all of the frames since some of them would be repeated with various fruits.
These are billboard designs advertising the many services of the American Red Cross.
This assignment was to come up with an advertising campaign to warn people about the dangers of AIDS.
This storyboarding assignment was to come up with a concept for a short film about the color red. I chose to focus on the different reactions we have to the color red.
For this part of the project we had to come up with advertising for a new fragrance called Revenge. I wanted the bottle to look like poison and for the main colors to be dark red and black.
This assignment was to see how many different things you could draw for the word "eye".
These are logo possibilities for the Peoria Film Festival. I think the ones with the bridge worked the best.
These were done as an exercise using Photoshop. The first photos are from the exercise which focused on combining two photos into one. For the first one I used a lion and a dandelion, and for the second I used a statue of Buddha and a punk with a mohawk and the Rock and Roll symbol.
This is a group of type figures I did of The Beatles. The goal for this part of the assignment was to make people or other objects out of type.
For this portion of the assignment, we had to replace letters of words with an object related to the word.
This part of the assignment was to take several words we were given and make silhouettes of them in black and white. The words used were "smoke", "hot drinks", "flower", and "balance".
The next several photos are barcode redesigns. The numbers beneath stand for various statistics related to recycling coffee cups, lives lost to war, and gallons of water added to the oceans yearly due to global warming.
