These are posters and other graphic design projects that I have worked on for student groups, class projects, and just for fun. Most of them were done using Adobe Photoshop, Abode InDesign, or Adobe Illustrator. On the right you can view medium sized images of each work and can download or view the larger images by clicking on them if they are available.
If you are interested in having me do any graphic design work for you please let me know! Right now I am charging very low rates, or none at all, depending on the size of the project and what it is for. I am especially interested in designing for entertainment companies, such as those for bands, record labels, recording studios, films, clothing companies, etc. I am also hoping to do more designing for other professional companies in the future as well. If you have any questions or would like to contact me, please send me an email at amandaATamandano2.com (be sure to replace AT with @) and I will get back to you within three days.

This poster was made while I was trying to brush up on my Adobe Illustrator skills over the summer before school started again. I decided to make a fake promotional concert poster for the band Apocalyptica for the project. Apocalyptica is a Finnish cello-based rock band that began as three classically trained cellists who played covers of Metallica songs. Later they began incorporating electric cellos and added a drummer and then began playing their own original music. Their music is kind of dark and heavy but also elegant. I chose to use the colors black and purple for the poster because I thought that the colors were a good fit with the music: dark, but pretty at the same time. I added a concrete texture over it to give it a look kind of like crushed velvet. I tried to find a font close to what they use for their band font and then added a glow to it to make it kind of "pop". The cello and the roses around it were found on sxc.hu Stock Photos and then cut out in Photoshop and assembled and altered in Illustrator.
For my final project in ART206 Graphic Design, we had to make posters and a special invitation package for a fake movie festival with a theme of numbers in movies. Below is the poster I used for it as well as the front and back of one of the information cards that went with the special invitation. Following that are two other poster designs that I had in the beginning but which were not used for the final project.
In my Advanced Video Production class we were holding a casting call for a movie about a family of zombies who moves to America and we needed a poster for it, so I made this in Abode InDesign.
In my ART206 Graphic Design class one of our assignments was to make several months of a calendar for a local company. I was assigned to the Peoria Chiefs Baseball team and had to emulate the style of British artist David Hockney. Hockney does both photographic collages as well as paintings. I decided to use his collage style for the project and obtained several photos of the Chiefs which I cut up and collaged together to get the distorted effect achieved in Hockney's works.
These were done for a Graphic Design assignment using Photoshop. The first photo is a group of type figures I did of The Beatles. The goal for this part of the assignment was to make people or other objects out of type. The next several photos are barcode redesigns. The numbers beneath stand for various statistics related to recycling coffee cups, lives lost to war, and gallons of water added to the oceans yearly due to global warming.
While I was on Winter Break my junior year of college, I decided to play around with typography in Adobe InDesign and began experimenting with the band name Red Hot Chili Peppers. This was the result.
For this school assignment, we were given a list of books from which we had to choose one to make a book cover for. I chose to use the novel "Bright Lights, Big City" by Jay McInerney. The book is about a man in New York who goes on a wild spree of parties and drugs over several days. This was made using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
The goal of this assignment was to make a magazine spread featuring a typeface of our choosing. I chose to use Bodoni for the design since it is a fairly common typeface and is often used for large blocks of text, which meant that I could use it as the only typeface in the design. This was designed completely in Adobe InDesign.
This was a quick poster I made for a performance by Slam Poet Bridget Gray in November of 2007. Made in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
These posters were all designed for the Darfur Relief Week program at Bradley University in May 2007 to promote the events during the week as well as some specifically for the Rock For Darfur concert. They were all made in Photoshop using Creative Commons photos.
