My name is Amanda Theiler and I am a senior Multimedia major (with a focus in Film/Video) and Graphic Design minor at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. I also do freelance work on the side. If you are interested in having me design or film something for you please feel free to contact me. Rates are low or possibly free depending on the project. August 2008 // Graphic Design // Apocalyptica Poster
This poster was made while I was trying to brush up on my Adobe Illustrator skills over the summer before school started again. I decided to make a fake promotional concert poster for the band Apocalyptica for the project. Apocalyptica is a Finnish cello-based rock band that began as three classically trained cellists who played covers of Metallica songs. Later they began incorporating electric cellos and added a drummer and then began playing their own original music. Their music is kind of dark and heavy but also elegant. I chose to use the colors black and purple for the poster because I thought that the colors were a good fit with the music: dark, but pretty at the same time. I added a concrete texture over it to give it a look kind of like crushed velvet. I tried to find a font close to what they use for their band font and then added a glow to it to make it kind of "pop". The cello and the roses around it were found on sxc.hu Stock Photos and then cut out in Photoshop and assembled and altered in Illustrator.
July/August 2008 // Web Design // Bradley's ACBU Fall Semester 2008
This was the website redesign for Bradley's Activities Council for Fall 2008 to promote on-campus entertainment. The navigation showing the different areas of the website sticking out of the red, circular "ACBU" logo was made in Adobe Flash. The rest of the website was made using standards compliant HTML and CSS, and Abode Photoshop was used for photo editing and resizing.
July 2008 // Video Editing // Birdhouse "The Beginning" Skate Trailer
The footage used in this piece was from Birdhouse Skateboard's video contest back in May. The contest was to make a promotional trailer for their skate video entitled "The Beginning". The red graphic at the beginning and end was made by Birdhouse.
June 2008 // Video Editing // Pioneer Marketpoint Resource Video
This is a promotional video for Pioneer's Marketpoint Resource that I made at my internship at IONA Group in Morton, IL. I did the editing (along with one other person), color correction, script preparation, shot list, shot order, and helped with shooting.
May 2008 // Web Design CSS HTML // Paramodal Technologies
This was made in my Web Design class (MM365) at school for a ficticious company called Paramodal Technologies. We all had to use the same business name and come up with products for transportation that does not yet exist. I chose to keep mine as realistic as possible and used solar cars for my products. The site was built using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript forms.
May 2008 // Graphic Design // Celebration of Numbers
For my final project in ART206 Graphic Design, we had to make posters and a special invitation package for a fake movie festival with a theme of numbers in movies. Below is the poster I used for it as well as the front and back of one of the information cards that went with the special invitation. Following that are two other poster designs that I had in the beginning but which were not used for the final project.
